Look, I know you doubt me, I know you always have. And you're right. I often think of Bag End. I miss my books. And my armchair. And my garden. See, that's where I belong. That's home. That's why I came back, 'cause you don't have one. A home. It was taken from you. But I will help you take it back if I can."

—Bilbo to Thorin and Company src

Bilbo Baggins, also known as the Hobbit, is a character on The Hobbit and Once Upon a Time in Middle-earth. He is portrayed by Martin Freeman and doesn't have a Storybrooke counterpart.

Bilbo is based on the titular character from J. R. R. Tolkien's novel, The Hobbit and the The Lord of the Rings trilogy and alludes to Roac the Raven. Bilbo is also an allusion to Briar Rose from the fairytale Sleeping Beauty.

Before First Curse

Bilbo is born in Middle-earth to Belladonna Took and Bungo Baggins.

Some time after the Battle of Five Armies, Bilbo grows close with Thorin during the re-building of the Lonely Mountain. However, something bad happens and separates the two friends, leading Thorin on a wild chase for his friend between realms, including Wonderland and Mount Olympus.

During First Curse

While everyone is sent to the new land, Bilbo along with everyone else in Middle-earth freezes for twenty-eight years. Sometime after his friend's death, Bilbo somehow ended up in the Enchanted Forest, meeting up with the heroes who return to the world.

Sometime later, he reunites with a heavily pregnant Elizabeth Swann and helps her escape from Mordor

After Fourth Curse

After finding no more home in Storybrooke, Bilbo leaves for the New Enchanted Forest, appearing right after the Coven of Eight plan their attack. Knowing his status as the savior, Drizella kidnaps Bilbo and Henry. While she poisons Henry's heart, she tells Bilbo he will be spared from the curse in order for him to complete her purpose. She reveals her plan to use him as a bargaining ship to get to Thorin and Regina, promising to release him when the duo complete her purpose.

After the curse is cast, Bilbo is imprisoned in the basement of Beflrey towers and retains his memories. He still hates Ivy for keeping him locked down there and demands that she let him go. However, Ivy reminds him what she promised back in the Enchanted Forest and Bilbo silently watches her walk. Ivy's plan fails when Thorin goes to Belfrey Towers, where Bilbo is left unattended because Gothel and Drizella are too focused on finding Anastasia. Bilbo is surprised to see Regina there, where she reveals she needs his help. Bilbo asks that how can he when they are in a land without magic. Regina says there is always another way.
